"This addition to Main Street is tremendous," commented John Swart, VP of Commercial Sales. "With movie theaters now added to the mix, there's no doubt this will be a vibrant addition to the Main Street lifestyle venue, as well as to the region as a whole."
The six-plex theater will offer state-of-the-art film projection, featuring Dolby-digital sound. Theater sizes will vary but all will have stadium seating.
According to Dick Morris, managing director of the Sarasota Film Society, "We plan to exhibit sophisticated Hollywood, foreign language and American independent films in the new Main Street location. This will be an extension of the Burns Court Cinema programs and film society membership benefits will be reciprocal at either site. It's going to be fantastic."
The Sarasota Film Society is a charitable arts organization, with an impressive 4,800 members. The Society's series of cultural educational activities will continue in the new Lakewood Ranch location; offering courses such as film making, screen writing and foreign-language film seminars for students and others. |
