The Rosemary District is located to the east of Tamiami Trail (US 41) and to the north of Fruitville Road. Central Avenue runs through the District. Diversity is the cornerstone of the Rosemary District. Sarasota made history when it developed Overtown, its first all-black residential area, within the Rosemary District in 1886.

The Rosemary District holds its Rosemary Rising Street Festival annually each December, drawing people from all over the greater Sarasota area and beyond.
