The refreshingly natural beaches of Casey Key are on the Gulf of Mexico with protected wild sea oats and mangroves providing a habitat for the scores of native island birds that share the island. There are also dolphins, manatees and other aquatic wildlife living just offshore. Here you can enjoy an unspoiled tropical key with  it's white sandy un-crowded beaches and picture perfect sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico. There is a public park that is beach front and bay front on the south end of Casey Key. The beach by the jetties have been known to be the best place for surfing during the season in this area of the Gulf of Mexico. Nokomis Beach is the oldest public beach in Sarasota County, encompassing 22 acres. The beach runs for 1/3 mile and offers parking, snacks, lifeguards, restrooms and showers.
