Vermont Real Estate Summary

 

The Vermont real estate market is gaining in strength, despite the national slowing trend.  Unemployment remains low and corporations are bringing their businesses to Vermont since it is known for its high quality of living.  Ben and Jerry´s is a large corporation in the area, as well as tourism and agriculture, making Vermont relocations popular.  The economy remains strong and new families are opting for high quality of living over city life.

 

The statewide average price for Vermont homes is $200,000.  This is a 12% increase in price since 2005.  In affluent sections of the state, houses are much more expensive.  Killington real estate has an average sale price of $600,000 after being on the market for 30-60 days.  Houses that are close to the ski resorts sell much quicker than those that are not.   The market is even with buyers and sellers.   

 

Quechee Lake Resort real estate has an average sale price of $450,000.  Prices are up between 10-15% over 2005 prices.   Houses are getting 97% of the asking price after being on the market for 90 days.  The market is even with the number of buyers and sellers in all price levels.  Vermont real estate will continue to grow as the demand for housing keeps increasing.
