Iowa Real Estate Summary
The Iowa real estate market is steady across the state. Iowa has some of the safest neighborhoods and one of the lowest priced housing markets in the country. Add that to the growing job market and Iowa relocations are very popular, especially amongst families. Unemployment is down below the national average, making the economy stronger. Jobs are being created in the food processing and technology sections.
Cedar Rapids real estate is up in recent months. The home sale prices are up close to 5% from a year ago, to sell for an average of $150,000. There are a few more buyers than sellers on the market, resulting in houses only being up for sale for 30 days or less. Prices in the lower amounts sell much quicker, while houses over $300,000 will take over 60 days. Sellers are getting close to 95% of their original asking price.
Statewide Iowa homes sell for an affordable price average of $80,000. The demand for housing in outlying towns meets the amount of houses for sale, creating an equal market between buyers and sellers. New construction is slowing down as the population growth eases.
