Massachusetts Real Estate Summary

The Massachusetts real estate market is steady.  Houses are selling, but at prices equivalent to last year.  The economy is steady, with more jobs available to lower the unemployment rate.  With the high price of living in some areas, Massachusetts relocation isn´t as popular as it used to be, unless you are transplanting with a corporation.

Boston real estate is increasing, after a small decline.  There are more sellers than buyers, but with low interest rates and a buyer´s marketplace, more buyers are entering the market to take advantage of the conditions.  Houses are selling for an average price of $360,000.  This is only up 3% from a year ago.  Houses are on the market for 60 to 90 days before receiving any offers, and when they do, it is for 90 to 95% of the asking price.

Worcester real estate is recovering from a decline.  There are more sellers than buyers in the current market.  Houses are selling for an average of $250,000, which is a 5% less than last year.  When houses do sell, they are getting 95% of their original asking price.  Houses are on the market for 90 to 120 days before an offer comes in.
